Interesting point Conrad, thanks for commenting. Of course all the chatter about cloud based music services is irrelevant unless the underlying technological infrastructure exists. One way Spotify have identified with this is with the ability to store music in the apps sandbox memory meaning people can download tracks when coverage is good and enjoy them when it’s bad. We have a hell of a way to go before we’re all continually streaming content.

I assume that we are talking about the Spotify app for the UK market?

I couldn’t even bring myself to think about the Spotify app in the USA. AT&T’s iPhone speed and coverage is so awful that users will only be able to listen to about 10 seconds of a song before the network boots them off (or 3G coverage disappears), at which point they will probably buy the full song from iTunes anyway!

My experience in NYC tells me that unless network traffic capabilities change, streaming anything will be a very frustrating experience.

I’m excited about the app but really surprised Apple gave the go-ahead – won’t it hurt their revenues by giving iPhone users a reason NOT to buy from iTunes?

Valid comments Anthony. We’re in the process of adding more payment methods. In Sweden we just signed a deal to sell premium months in stores around the country. We’re looking to do similar things elsewhere as well as add more and more online methods.

As for trials, we may do that in the future. We just launched the app so give us a little time to ramp up it’s marketing.
